TV Cartoon Add Ons and Deletions

Nick acquires a new series.

Nickelodeon has announced a 13-episode order of The Loud House, the first series to be greenlit out of its 2013 Animated Shorts Program. Inspired by first-time creator Chris Savino’s (Rocko’s Modern Life, The Powerpuff Girls) chaotic life growing up in a huge household, the series will follow 11-year-old Lincoln as he gives an inside look at what it takes to survive in the bedlam of a large family, especially as the only boy with 10 sisters. The series is based off a short of the same name from the 2013 Animated Shorts Program, and will air on Nickelodeon. ...

Also, too, Cartoon Network is adding episodes to an existing hit.

The continuing ratings success of animated kids series The Amazing World of Gumball has prompted Cartoon Network to order to a further two seasons of the show.

This brings the total number of seasons to five, and represents the first time Cartoon Network has made a double order of the series. ...

On the other side of the scale, a Disney TVA staffer tells me that the division has scrubbed a new show after a handful of boards were delivered.

This isn't the first time Disney has axed a show that was in the midst of doing episodes. A few years back, Diz TVA cancelled Winnie the Pooh and Friends partway through its third season after seventeen scripts had been delivered and boards had been commissioned.

Ah, well. It's not always bright sunshine in Cartoonland.
