Jobs, Careers & Volunteers Fair at Bucks on Thursday 27 November.

Welcome to the 2014 annual Bucks Jobs, Careers & Volunteers Fair! We’re looking forward to welcoming over 80 employers, charities and other organisations to the High Wycombe Campus to attend this year’s Jobs, Careers & Volunteers Fair in the Gateway Events Hall between 11am-3pm on Thursday 27 November. 

This year, many employer organisations are looking to meet students from all years to offer a mix of work experience, part-time, volunteering and graduate opportunities and also to engage with staff to discuss how they may engage their industries with our wide range of courses. Organisations in attendance this year include:

• Enterprise Rent-A-Car
• Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust
• The Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy

For many of our students, working part-time while at university is something of a necessity. While we don't encourage our students to take on work that will compromise their ability to study, we do recognise that many will need to earn some extra cash to make ends meet. The careers fair can be a great place to find out about opportunities for part-time work while studying at Bucks, as well as a chance to look beyond the university into the Great Unknown beyond.

VFX Festival on January 28th hosted by Escape Studios

Escape Studios VFX Festival 2015

Escape Studios are running their latest VFX Festival on January 28th at the VUE Cinema in London's Shepherd's Bush. To find out more, and sign up, follow this link. The event is an excellent way to find out about careers in animation and visual effects, what jobs are out here and how to break in to the industry.

Escape Studios have excellent connections in the visual effects industry, and they tend to attract highly qualified speakers working at the cutting edge of VFX.

For example, a few days ago they invited Paul Franklin, VFX Supervisor on Inception, Dark Knight, and Interstellar, to give a free talk on what visual effects supervisors do.

Last years' VFX festival included plenty of workshops and classes to introduce students to the world of visual effects.

Day 1 is for newbies, Day 2 for enthusiasts, and Say 3 for seasoned professionals. You can see the schedule below.

We highly recommend that our students travel to London on January 28th. The capital is an easy day trip from Wycombe and, if you take the free shuttle bus to the Uxbridge campus, it only costs the price of a tube fare into London.

Jobs and Careers Fair at Bucks on Thursday 21 November

Next week, on Thursday 21 November the annual Jobs and Careers Fair is coming to Bucks. It is a big event, aimed at putting graduates and employers together, part of the University's focus on employability. The fair, which runs from 11am to 3pm, is not aimed specifically at Animation & VFX but it is sill well worth going along to find out what kinds of jobs are out there, and also what employers are looking for in graduates.
