RIG REVIEW: ☆☆☆☆☆ 5 Stars - External World Rigs

The External World A boy learns to play the piano.
World premiere at the 67th Venice Film Festival
US premiere at Sundance 2011
Banned from exhibition in China by Shanghai's Ministry Of Culture.

☆☆☆☆☆ 5 Stars - External World Rigs:  I give these rigs 5 Stars because they are built for exactly what they are meant to do.  To create simple character animation.  David OReilly is one of the few artists out there creating both fine and commercial art using the medium of animation.  He created the game for Spike Jonez's movie Her and above his his latest short film.

He also has made rigs created from the External World film available for use for free.  These rigs are downsized for the "glitch art/unstable new media" style popular in fine art circles so this would not be good for a demo reel to get a job in production, but these are great rigs to play with, learn animation and even create your own short films with.  The rigs are weird and wonderful.  I share these rigs with my freshman students at USC as a great introduction to CG.

All he asks is you give him credit for the rigs and use them for non commercial purposes.

These rigs get the Redd the Clown stamp of approval!
