Worldwide Box Office

The weekend takes (and the totals) for animated movies:

Weekend Foreign Box Office -- (World Totals)

Transformers -- $95,800,000 -- ($575,645,351)

How To Train Your Dragon 2 -- $33,500,000 -- ($293,200,252)

Maleficent -- $17,300,000 -- ($630,182,000)

Rio 2 -- $5,200,000 -- ($483,557,377)

Frozen -- $2,100,000 -- ($1,267,840,000)

Frozen, amazingly enough, just never stops rolling. It's collected another $4 million in global theater receipts over the last week.

And as the digital trade papers inform us:

How To Train Your Dragon 2 opened in several markets this week, including France where the Fox release had the 2nd biggest Hollywood opening of the year. It was No. 1 with a very strong $7.5M on 768 screens. ...

Frozen, which was No. 1 for an amazing 16 consecutive frames in Japan, added an estimated $1.8M this weekend (the cume there is a regal $240.8M). ...

Some innocent asked me last week, "You think Disney will do a Frozen 2?" I said I wasn't sure, but I thought it was slightly more likely than grizzly bears hibernating in Winter.
